2. Know the dimensions of the place – measure the length and breadth of the room in which you want to install the floorings. Buy an under layment which is a cushioned plastic placed under the laminate floors to protect it from moisture and sound. The size of the under layment and the flooring should be same.
3. Direction to lay the flooring – generally it is preferred to lay the flooring in the direction parallel to the direction of light entering the room.
4. Start with the installation – roll down the laminate flooring in the direction in which it is to be installed. Cut the under layment in a way which will fit the room leaving about an inch to overlap on each end. Place the first plank over the under layment and start the installation. You can also easily cut the planks using an electric saw, in order to fill the remaining places after you have completed with the whole room.
5. Finish to the edges – now only the edges are to be done with. Add a one-fourth round trim or add baseboards to give a finished look. If you have other floorings installed in other rooms, don’t forget to install door jams to separate laminate floorings from others.
